Please place the following measures on the agenda for the January 9, 2018 Legislative Meeting:

 

• Boris Nemtsov Plaza Designation Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2017
• Boris Nemtsov Plaza Designation Emergency Act of 2017

 

          The purpose of the designation is to symbolically designate the 2600 block of Wisconsin Avenue, N.W., between Davis Street, N.W., and Edmunds Street, N.W., in Ward 3, as Boris Nemtsov Plaza.  Permanent legislation to effect the symbolic designation is scheduled for first reading on January 9, 2018.  Enacting the legislation on an emergency basis will make the provisions of Bill 22-539 effective sooner than Congressional review and guarantee that the symbolic signage will be installed before the third anniversary of Boris Nemtsov’s death on February 27, 2018.
