Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces the scheduling of a public hearing of the Committee of the Whole on PR 20-785, Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia Jim W. Dyke Jr. Confirmation Resolution of 2014, PR 20-786, Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia Reginald Felton Confirmation Resolution of 2014, and PR 20-787, Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia Rev. Kendrick E. Curry Confirmation Resolution of 2014.  The hearing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in Hearing Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building.

The stated purpose of PRs 20-785, 20-786, and 20-787 is to confirm for re-appointment the nominations of Jim W. Dyke Jr., Reginald Felton, and Rev. Kendrick E. Curry to the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia for terms that expire May 15, 2019.  The purpose of this hearing is to receive testimony from government and public witnesses as to the fitness of these nominees for the Board.

Those who wish to testify are asked to telephone the Committee of the Whole, at (202) 724-8196, or email Taneka Miller, Legislative Counsel, at tmiller@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) by close of business Monday, June 23, 2014.  Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony.  If submitted by the close of business on Monday, June 23, 2014 the testimony will be distributed to Councilmembers before the hearing.  Witnesses should limit their testimony to five minutes; less time will be allowed if there are a large number of witnesses.  A copy of PRs 20-785, 20-786, and 20-787 can be obtained through the Legislative Services Division of the Secretary of the Council’s office or on http:// lims.dccouncil.us.

If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  Written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 410 of the John A. Bill 20-799, Employment Contract of Dr. James E. Lyons, Sr. as Interim President of the University of the District of Columbia Emergency Act of 2014

Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces a public roundtable of the Committee of the Whole on Bill 20-799, the “Employment Contract of Dr. James E. Lyons, Sr. as Interim President of the University of the District of Columbia Emergency Act of 2014.” The public roundtable will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. or immediately following the Committee Hearing on PR 20-754, the “Transfer of Jurisdiction Over Lot 802 in Square 4325 within Fort Lincoln New Town Emergency Approval Resolution of 2014” in Hearing Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

The stated purpose of Bill 20-799 is to approve, on an emergency basis, the employment contract submitted by the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia for the appointment of Dr. James E. Lyons, Sr. as Interim President, for a period ending on or before August 31, 2015.

PR 20-606, Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia Joshua S. Wyner Confirmation Resolution of 2013

Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces the scheduling of a public hearing of the Committee of the Whole on PR 20-606, Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia Joshua S. Wyner Confirmation Resolution of 2013.  The hearing will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014 in Hearing Room 120 of the John A. Wilson Building.  This hearing has been rescheduled to February 20, 2014 due to the government closure on February 13, 2014.

The stated purpose of PR 20-606 is to confirm for appointment the nomination of Joshua Wyner to the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia.  The purpose of this hearing is to receive testimony from government and public witnesses as to the fitness of this nominee for the Board.

FISCAL YEAR 2013/2014 AGENCY PERFORMANCE OVERSIGHT HEARINGS

Council Chairman Phil Mendelson announces the scheduling of a series of public hearings of the Committee of the Whole for Fiscal Year 2013 and 2014 Agency Performance in anticipation of the Fiscal Year 2015 budget submission.  Hearings for individual agencies will be held on the dates and times indicated in the table below in the John A. Wilson Building.

Those who wish to testify should contact the approrpriate staff (indicated in the table) at (202) 724-8196, or via e-mail by clicking on the appropriate staff and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any) at least two business days before the hearing.  Persons wishing to testify are encouraged, but not required, to submit 15 copies of written testimony.  Witnesses should limit their testimony to five minutes; less time will be allowed if there are a large number of witnesses.  Materials provided by agencies related to performance hearings can be found at http://dccouncil.us.

If you are unable to testify at the hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.  Copies of written statements should be submitted to the Committee of the Whole, Council of the District of Columbia, Suite 410 of the John A.
