            Please place the following measures are placed on the agenda for the April 10, 2018 Legislative Meeting:

 

• Boris Nemtsov Plaza Designation Congressional Review Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2018
• Boris Nemtsov Plaza Designation Congressional Review Emergency Act of 2018

 

            Bill 22-539, the “Boris Nemtsov Plaza Designation Act of 2017” was adopted by the Council on February 6, 2018 (D.C. Act 22-276) and is currently under congressional review with a projected law date of May 18, 2018.  The corresponding emergency legislation, Bill 22-646, will expire on April 25, 2018.  A congressional review emergency is necessary to prevent a gap in the law.

 

            The purpose of the designation is to symbolically designate the 2600 block of Wisconsin Avenue, N.W., between Davis Street, N.W., and Edmunds Street, N.W., in Ward 3, as Boris Nemtsov Plaza.  The symbolic signage was installed February 27, 2018, which marked the third anniversary of Boris Nemtsov’s death.
