Chairman Mendelson’s Amendment to Bill 23-467

Good Afternoon All,

Chairman Mendelson plans to move the attached amendment to Bill 23-467, the “Student Medical Marijuana Patient Fairness Amendment Act of 2019,” at tomorrow’s legislative meeting.  This amendment clarifies that students may possess and self-administer sunscreen at school, school-sponsored events, or on school-sponsored transportation, as well as clarifying that school personnel may also administer it.  The Department of Health has asked for this amendment, as it has asked that the bill include language that clearly states who may possess and administer sunscreen during school, school sponsored events, and when students are on school-sponsored transportation.  The language in this amendment is the exact language included in emergency (Bill 23-422) and temporary (Bill 23-423) legislation that the Council approved on September 17, 2019 and October 8, 2019, respectively.  Should you have any questions, please contact me or the Chairman.

Thanks,

Christina K. Setlow, Deputy Committee Director

Committee of the Whole, Chairman Phil Mendelson
