This memorandum is to request that the following measures be placed on the agenda for the May 4, 2021 Legislative Meeting:

 

▪        Coronavirus Public Health Extension Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2021

▪        Coronavirus Public Health Extension Emergency Amendment Act of 2021

▪        Coronavirus Public Health Extension Temporary Amendment Act of 2021

 

On March 11, 2020, the Mayor of the District of Columbia issued Mayor’s Orders 2020-45 and 2020-46, declaring a public emergency and a public health emergency in the District due to the imminent threat to the health, safety, and welfare of District residents posed by the spread of COVID-19.  Additional orders have since been issued and the most recent authority granted by the Council expires on May 20, 2021.  This emergency and temporary legislation would extend the Mayor’s authority through July 15, 2021.
