RE:           Request to Agendize Emergency Measures for the June 1, 2021 Legislative Meeting

 

This memo is to request that the following measures be placed on the agenda for the June 1, 2021 Legislative Meeting:

 

§  Coronavirus Support Congressional Review Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2021

§  Coronavirus Support Congressional Review Emergency Amendment Act of 2021

 

            Bill 24-139, the “Coronavirus Support Emergency Amendment Act of 2021” was adopted by the Council on March 3, 2021 (D.C. Act 24-30) and expires on June 15, 2021.  Bill 24-140, the “Coronavirus Support Temporary Amendment Act of 2021” was adopted on second reading by the Council on June 9, 2020 (D.C. Act 24-62).[1]  However, the temporary act has not yet completed its 30-day congressional review period, projected for June 29, 2021.  A congressional review emergency act is necessary to prevent a gap in the law.
