RE:          Request to Agendize Emergency Measures for the November 2, 2021 Legislative Meeting

 

This memo is to request that the following measures be placed on the agenda for the November 2, 2021 legislative meeting:

 

§  Wilkinson School Disposition Authorization Congressional Review Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2021

§  Wilkinson School Disposition Authorization Congressional Review Emergency Act of 2021

 

            Bill 24-295, the “Wilkinson School Disposition Authorization Emergency Act of 2021” was adopted by the Council on August 3, 2021 (D.C. Act 24-164) and expires on November 30, 2021.  Bill 24-296, the “Wilkinson School Disposition Authorization Temporary Act of 2021” was adopted on second reading by the Council on October 5, 2021.  However, the temporary act has not yet completed its mayoral review or 30-day congressional review period.  A congressional review emergency act is necessary to prevent a gap in the law.
