Attached is an amendment the Chairman plans to move tomorrow to Bill 24-120, the “Emergency Rental Assistance Reform and Career Mobility Action Plan Program Establishment Amendment Act of 2022.” The amendment does two things:

 

1. It will allow ERAP providers to deposit funds into the court registry so tenants do not lose the ability to litigate housing condition issues in an eviction case; and
2. It will protect tenants from eviction if they have ERAP applications pending. We had similar but not identical language in previous temporary emergency bills, including bills related to STAY DC.
