RE:                  Emergency Legislation for the September 17, 2024 Legislative Meeting

 

The following measures are placed on the agenda for the September 17, 2024 Additional Legislative Meeting, at the request of the Mayor:

 

• Fiscal Year 2025 Local Budget Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2024
• Fiscal Year 2025 Local Budget Emergency Act of 2024

 

            This measure listed is being introduced at the request of the Mayor to ensure that the Fiscal Year 2025 budget is law in time for the Fiscal Year.  Due to the later submission of the FY25 budget package and longer congressional recess due to the upcoming elections, this emergency measure is necessary to ensure we have an approved budget and financial plan in place for the start of the FY25 fiscal year on October 1, 2024.

 

After review by the Council’s Budget Office to ensure consistency with the local budget act adopted by the Council on final reading on June 12, 2024, should an Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute be necessary, that amendment will be circulated under separate cover.
