RE: Request to Place Emergency Measures on the Agenda for November 17, 2020 Legislative Meeting

The following measures are placed on the agenda for the November 17, 2020 additional legislative meeting:

PR 23-1012, Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC Option Year One Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2020
Bill 23-993, Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC Option Year One Emergency Act of 2020

These measures would approve option period one under Contract No. SO-15-030-0001049 between Events DC and Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services, LLC.

Five years ago, the Washington Convention and Sports Authority, t/a Events DC, entered into a contract with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services, LLC for janitorial and related services at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and Carnegie Library. This is the first option year after completion of the multi-year base period that was approved by the Council on June 2, 2015 via CA-21-119. The option-year contract was not transmitted to Council in time for passive 10-day review. The option-year contract term began on October 1, 2020 and approval of the contract, retroactively, is necessary for Events DC to exercise the full option year.
