RE:                       Request to Place Measure on the Agenda for July 11, 2023 Legislative Meeting

 

            This memorandum is to request that the following measures be placed on the agenda for the July 11, 2023 Legislative Meeting:

 

• Marion Barry Avenue Designation Congressional Review Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2023
• Marion Barry Avenue Designation Congressional Review Emergency Act of 2023

 

D.C. Act 25-112, the Marion Barry Avenue Designation Emergency Act of 2022, will expire August 22, 2023. Although identical permanent legislation was enacted on May 5, 2023 (D.C. Act 25-81), its congressional review is pending. The underlying act has an applicability date of July 1, 2023.  Thus, a congressional review emergency is necessary to prevent a gap in the law.
