               The following measures are placed on the agenda for the December 18, 2018 Additional Legislative Meeting:

 

§  Hidden Figures Way Designation Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2018

§  Hidden Figures Way Designation Emergency Act of 2018

 

               The purpose of the designation is to symbolically designate the 300 block of E Street, S.W., in Ward 6, as Hidden Figures Way to honor the historic women who contributed to NASA’s mission despite adversity.  Permanent legislation to effect the symbolic designation is scheduled for second reading on December 18, 2018.  Enacting the legislation on an emergency basis will make the provisions of Bill 22-965 effective sooner than Congressional review and allow for the change of name before adjournment of the current Congress.  The congressional version of this symbolic designation was co-sponsored by Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) whose term ends at the end of this Congress.
