RE: Request to Place Measure on the Agenda for the September 18, 2018 Legislative Meeting

The following measure is placed on the agenda for the September 18, 2018 Legislative Meeting:

General Counsel to the Council of the District of Columbia Nicole Streeter Appointment Resolution of 2018

Ms. Streeter has a distinguished legal career in the non-profit community and in government service. Until earlier this year, she served as General Counsel to the DC Public Charter School Board. She previously served as Deputy General Counsel to the District of Columbia Public Schools and as Legislative Counsel to the Committee of the Whole under Chairman Vincent C. Gray. She is well respected within the legal community.

Upon notification of Ms. Ellen Efros’s impending departure, I formulated a search committee to identify and interview candidates for the General Counsel’s position. Ms. Streeter was one of three recommendations. I believe she is the best candidate and has the ability to fulfill all of the wide range of responsibilities of the position. I enthusiastically recommend her appointment as General Counsel to the Council of the District of Columbia.
