The following measures are placed on the agenda for the July 28, 2025 Legislative Meeting:

 

▪        Rev. Dr. Judy Talbert Way Designation Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2025

▪        Rev. Dr. Judy Talbert Way Designation Emergency Act of 2025

 

            The purpose of the designation is to symbolically designate Alabama Avenue, S.E. between Hartford Street, S.E. and Gainesville Street, S.E., as Rev. Dr. Judy Talbert Way.  Permanent legislation implementing the official designation will be adopted on final reading on July 28, 2025.  Enacting the legislation on an emergency basis will allow the District Department of Transportation to work with the community to install signage prior to a community celebration of the life of Rev. Dr. Judy Talbert, before the permanent legislation completes the 30-day congressional review period.
